Owen Cook
Graduating in Spring 2021
From Purcellville, VA

This week we would like to feature Hub member Owen Cook in the Athlete Spotlight! Owen is from Purcellville, VA, and he is currently in his senior year of high school. Earlier this year Owen Cook won the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship Regional Qualifier in Washington D.C. and earned his spot to play in the championship in November! He shot a first round 69, and played 9 holes the second day due to inclement weather and shot a 36.

The win at the qualifier came on the heels of some excellent play beforehand. From June to August this year, Owen produced a string of four straight top-5 finishes. He finished in 5th place at the HJGT Virginia Summer Junior Open with rounds of 77-73. Next he had a runner up finish at the College Prep Golf Tour Kingsmill Trevor Times Memorial Invitational with rounds of 74-71, and another runner up finish at the VA Capital Cup Qualifier at Raspberry Falls with a 70! Cook holds a 74.2 scoring average over his last 10 rounds, and is a member of the 2020 VA Capital Cup Team.

Owen aspires to play collegiate golf at the NCAA D-I level. He loves competing in tournaments and has also played travel soccer for nine years. His goal for the year is to maintain a scoring average of 74 through December. Off the course, he gives back to his community. For the last five years he has participated in the Best Buddies Challenge, an annual 100 mile bicycle ride from Boston to Cape Cod. The Best Buddies Challenge aims to raise awareness and funds for people with intellectual developmental disorders.

Junior Golf Hub wishes Owen the best for the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship in a few weeks, and for his senior year of high school!

Enjoy Your Journey!
