This week on our Athlete Spotlight is Hub member Leigh Chien, from Irvine, CA! Leigh is currently starting her freshman year of high school after a remarkable summer of tournament play. In her last 10 rounds, she has posted a scoring average of 70.7, and she is currently in first place in the race for the Hub Cup with an overall scoring average of 71.77.

Chien is approaching the top 1000 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Last month, Chien won the 25th California Women’s Championship at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, with rounds of 72-67-66, tying the low round for the tournament on the final day to shoot -8, 205 for a seven stroke victory. Just last week, Chien played in the AJGA PING Heather Farr Classic in Arizona, coming in T-2 with rounds of 71-69.
Leigh Chien has won 3 AJGA titles by the age of 14. This past June she won her third, defending the AJGA KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All Star Invitational in Arkansas which she won in 2019. In this event, she was the only player to shoot under 70 each day with rounds of 69-69-67, and she tied the lowest round on the final day in the event’s 6-year history. By winning this AJGA event, Leigh Chien gained an exemption into the Symetra Tour’s Symetra Founders Tribute.

Leigh has stated that her dream is to play for a D-I program in college, and become the number one amateur player in the world. In 2016 she won the Drive, Chip, & Putt Chipping contest at Augusta National. In her spare time, Leigh likes to make slime and is an eLeader with LPGA Girl’s Golf. We wish Leigh continued success this fall and beyond!
