This week on the Hub Program Spotlight we would like to feature Iowa State University Men’s and Women’s Golf programs. Each team competes as part of the NCAA D-I , a program that competes as an NAIA program as part of the Big 12Conference. Iowa State University was one of the few fortunate schools to be able to continue competing in tournaments this fall.
The Cyclones are led by head coach Andew Tank on the men’s side ([email protected]), who has been coach of the team for the past ten years and led his team to the NCAA National Championship three times. This fall the men’s team played in three events in Texas, including the Big 12 Match Play Championship.
On the women’s side, the Cyclones are led by head coach Christie Martens ([email protected] ), who has led the team for the past 17 years. From 2010 to 2019, the Cyclones competed in NCAA Regionals for ten consecutive years, and they made the NCAA National Championship in 2014. This fall the women’s golf team played in three events, including travel to Texas and Oklahoma.
Recently, Iowa State University Golf was featured in Golfweek for their outstanding practice facilities. Check it out here!
Both the men’s and women’s golf teams have access to the Cyclone Golf Performance Center, which was created in 2013. The entire facility spans 16 acres, and includes outdoor and indoor features.
Indoors, the Cyclones can practice with a turf short game area, 4 hitting bays, a simulator with swing video analysis, and a club repair area. The building also includes a player’s lounge and a kitchen. Outdoors, the Cyclones have access to a 780 yard-long practice range. There is also a wedge area complete with bunkers of different types of sand, and 11 different green complexes.
We commend Iowa State University Golf for a solid fall and all their hard work, and we wish them continued success in the future.
Enjoy Your Journey!
