Gov. Phil Murphy announced Wednesday he’s reopening state parks and forests and allowing county parks and all golf courses in New Jersey to operate again under restrictions starting Saturday morning.

As of week ending April 26, 58% of U.S. golf courses were open for play, up from 49% the prior week.

Gov. Tom Wolf will allow golfers to hit the course and boaters to hit the water during the coronavirus pandemic starting Friday. Golf courses, marinas, guided fishing trips and privately owned campgrounds will be able to open on Friday.

Social distancing and masking guidelines will be required just as for other essential businesses. This move by Wolf follows precedents set in surrounding states such as New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, which opened up their marinas, boatyards and boat launches for recreational use over a week ago.
