With nationals a mere week away for DI Women’s golf, and Division I Men’s Regionals in just three days, much has transpired for the teams on the road to Omni La Costa Resort.
Women’s Regionals have already taken place, finishing on May 8 after starting on the 6th. The sites this year were Auburn, Alabama, Bermuda Run, North Carolina, Bryan, Texas, Cle Elum, Washington, East Lansing, Michigan, and Las Vegas, Nevada.
There were many individuals who stood out as regional champions, like Ingrid Lindblad from LSU, Rachel Heck from Stanford, and Anna Davis from Auburn who all took home medalist honors in their respective regions. Both Rachel Kuehn (Wake Forest) and Caitlyn Macnab (Ole Miss) shared honors in the North Carolina region. Las Vegas also had co-medalists: Zoe Campos from UCLA and Kajal Mistry from Arkansas. The biggest surprise was Notre Dame’s Lauren Beaudreau beating out USC’s Bailey Shoemaker in East Lansing.
The NCAA DI Women’s Championships will take place from May 17-21 in Carlsbad, California. The format will include 30 teams and six individuals who will compete in 54 holes of stroke play. After 54 holes, the top 15 teams and top 9 individuals not on an advancing team will make the cut to the last day of stroke play. Those 18 holes determine the individual national champion, along with the 8 teams who will advance to the match play portion of the event, where they will then play team match play until a team national champion is crowned on the 22nd.
For the men’s championships, Regionals begin on May 13 and go to May 15. The following courses and teams will host the competitions:
- The University of Texas Golf Club, Austin, Texas (Texas host)
- University Club, Baton Roue, Louisiana (LSU host)
- UNC Finley Golf Course, Chapel Hill, North Carolina (UNC host)
- The Farms Golf Club, Rancho Santa Fe, California (San Diego host)
- Stanford Golf Club, Stanford, California (Stanford host)
- Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, West Lafayette, Indiana (Purdue host)
The National Championships will take place from May 24 to May 29 in Carlsbad.
Format for the men’s championships will be the same as the womens’.
