Junior Golf Hub friends, you know that Division II college golf is seriously competitive, and now, the stakes are higher than ever!

Golfweek is hosting a landmark tournament—the Golfweek Fripp Island to Bermuda Invitational—that’s making history by offering the individual winner an exemption into next month’s PGA Tour event, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship!

The Premier Event in D-II Golf

This is believed to be the first time in Division II history that an individual collegiate winner will earn a spot in a PGA Tour event, which is phenomenal news for this often-underserved sector of college golf.

The tournament, taking place at Ocean Point Golf Course in Fripp Island, South Carolina, features an absolutely stacked field, including six of the top 10 and ten of the top 17 teams in the country! As Lee University coach Evan Spence said, this event now has a case to be called the “absolute premier event in D-II college golf this year.”

The 36-hole first day is today, Monday, October 20, with the final round tomorrow, Tuesday, October 21. The medalist—the player with the lowest score—will punch their ticket to the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, set for November 13–16 in Bermuda.

We applaud Golfweek for creating such a phenomenal, high-profile opportunity. It shines a much-needed spotlight on the depth of talent in D-II golf and gives these incredible athletes the chance they truly deserve to compete on the biggest stage!

Keep an eye on the scores—we can’t wait to see which D-II champion will be representing their school on the PGA Tour!
