A Historic NCAA Record in Hawaii

The Auburn men’s golf team recently made history in Hawaii. They delivered an extraordinary performance at the Amer Ari Invitational. The team tied the NCAA record for the lowest score relative to par. Colorado State originally set this mark in 2007.

The Tigers finished at an astounding 77-under at Mauna Lani Golf Club. They outperformed second-place Texas by 13 shots. Auburn’s total score of 787 equals the 2007 NCAA record.

Jackson Koivun Leads the Way

Jackson Koivun led the charge for Auburn. He is currently the world’s top-ranking amateur golfer. Koivun ended the tournament at 25-under 191. He finished five shots ahead of his closest rival.

His performance established a new NCAA record through 36 holes. This was his first victory of the junior season. It also marked the sixth win of his career. Additionally, Koivun set a new Auburn 54-hole scoring record. He beat the previous school record by seven shots.

Coach Clinard and Team Depth

Coach Nick Clinard expressed great pride in his players. He praised the team for starting strong and staying aggressive. Clinard called the victory a significant milestone for the program.

Cayden Pope also stood out by finishing as the runner-up. He posted an impressive 20-under total. Teammates Billy Davis and Jake Albert tied for 20th place. Meanwhile, Josiah Gilbert finished in 24th place.

Record-Breaking Competition

Auburn was not the only team to shatter records. Texas set a new school benchmark at 64-under par. Oregon State also established a new team record of 43-under. Individual Nguyen Ahn Minh set an Oregon State record at 17-under.

The Amer Ari Invitational showcased an elite level of talent. This victory gives Auburn a major confidence boost. The team now looks toward a record-breaking spring season.
