Auburn University golf phenom Jackson Koivun has made history yet again. Specifically, he claimed his second consecutive Fred Haskins Award in 2026. Only three other players in college golf history have ever achieved this legendary feat. Consequently, Koivun joins an elite circle featuring Ben Crenshaw, Bobby Clampett, and Phil Mickelson.
The Heisman of College Golf
The prestigious Fred Haskins Award honors the top male collegiate golfer each season. Naturally, many fans compare it to football’s Heisman Trophy. Players, coaches, sports information directors, and golf media members all cast votes to select the winner. Koivun previously won the honor after his freshman year. Therefore, this second trophy secures his legendary status.
Dominating the Record Books
Koivun completely dominated the collegiate field this year. For example, he secured six tournament victories this season alone. This remarkable run brought his career total to 11 individual titles. As a result, these staggering statistics easily cement his reputation as the most successful golfer in Auburn history.
Furthermore, the junior’s historic run extends far beyond Alabama. He recently shattered Tiger Woods’ single-season NCAA scoring records. He also won three consecutive SEC individual titles. In addition to his second Haskins Trophy, Koivun currently holds two Ben Hogan Awards.
An Announcement in Carlsbad
Officials announced the award on Tuesday in Carlsbad, California. Koivun edged out an elite field of finalists, including recent NCAA individual champion Preston Stout. Despite his massive success, the Auburn star accepted the honor with deep humility. He expressed immense gratitude to receive the trophy once again. In fact, he openly praised the legendary past winners who paved his way.
The Professional Transition
Koivun will now transition to the professional ranks full-time. Thankfully, he already secured his PGA Tour card last year. His groundbreaking career has forever changed collegiate golf. Ultimately, fans around the world eagerly await his upcoming professional debut.
