What is the PGA Junior League?
The PGA Junior League was developed in order to enrich the game of golf for junior players. The goal is not only to introduce golf at an early age, but to foster social connections among families and friends by making fun memories that will last for a lifetime.
PGA Jr. League is a fun, team golf experience for players ages 17 and younger. All kids will be a part of a local team that may consist of anywhere from four or more players. Behind each and every PGA Jr. League team is a PGA Coach providing a safe, caring, and organized environment for every kid. These experts are provided with flexibility to create a coaching program that works best for their players and families.
Teams are part of leagues, organized together so that games can be played and local league standings can be kept. In-house leagues include multiple teams that practice and play at the same facility each week. Some leagues may travel to other facilities for friendly matches or Play Days. Other leagues may be formed across multiple facilities, where teams take turns visiting each other’s golf courses and playing against one another.
Who can play in the PGA Junior League?
No prior golf experience is required to participate in the program, as they welcome kids of all skill levels to join. PGA Jr. League includes two age divisions: 13u and 17u. Family members are encouraged to get involved as well by taking an active role as spectators and volunteers within their local league.
Schedule:
The PGA Jr. League is seasonal, however, there are playing opportunities that exist all year long. A typical PGA year runs along the following schedule:
- January to February: Player registration opens for the current year.
- March to June: Spring and summer seasons held nationwide. All-Star Play Days may be held in June in some areas.
- July to September: National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Season (All-Star Play Days, Section Qualifiers/ Championships and Regionals)
- October: National Car Rental 13u PGA Jr. League Championship (17u Championship held in November)
- July to December: Fall seasons held nationwide.
Every PGA Jr. League player is required to pay an annual fee of $99, which includes access to their local league and participation in as many seasons as desired throughout the year.
