The College of Charleston women’s golf team just made history. They clinched their seventh Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship title this week. This achievement sets a new conference record. It also marks their second consecutive win, proving the Cougars are a true dominant force.
A Dramatic Comeback in Southport
The tournament took place at The Reserve Club at St. James in North Carolina. High winds made the final round incredibly difficult for every player. Charleston began the third round facing a two-stroke deficit to UNCW. However, the Cougars refused to back down. They fought through the gusts and secured the title on the very last hole. This victory represents the team’s fourth conference championship in the last five years.
Elite Individual Performances
This win was a total team effort. Remarkably, four Cougars finished inside the top 10. Their consistency was the key to overcoming the leaderboard gap.
