Future Stars Align at PGA Frisco for the Landmark 50th Junior PGA Championships

The future of golf is on display at PGA Frisco. The milestone 50th Junior PGA Championships kick off at the premier Fields Ranch East and West courses, bringing together 312 of the world’s top young amateurs for four days of high-stakes competition.

Historically, this tournament has served as a launching pad for the game’s greatest icons. Past contenders include legends and modern superstars like Tiger Woods, Scottie Scheffler, Rose Zhang, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Lexi Thompson, Yuka Saso, Akshay Bhatia, and Inbee Park. This year’s field features 156 boys and 156 girls competing concurrently for one of junior golf’s most prized trophies.

A Grueling Format with Massive Stakes

The 72-hole championship challenges players across both Fields Ranch East and Fields Ranch West for the opening two rounds. The field will then be trimmed through two progressive cuts:

36-Hole Cut (Wednesday, July 29): The top 60 scorers and ties in each division advance.
54-Hole Cut (Thursday, July 30): The top 30 scorers and ties advance to the final round.

For the final 36 holes, action moves exclusively to the challenging setup of Fields Ranch East.

Beyond the silverware, the incentives in 2026 are higher than ever. The tournament marks the official start of qualifying points for the U.S. Team at the 14th Junior Ryder Cup, set to be held in September 2027 at Ballyneety Golf Club and Adare Manor in Ireland.

Both champions earn exemptions into the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, while the top two finishers in each division head to Australia for the 2026 NextGen World Final. Individual division winners receive career-defining opportunities: the girls’ champion earns a spot in the 2027 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, while the boys’ champion secures a tee time on the Korn Ferry Tour at the 2027 Tulum Championship in Mexico. Additionally, top-15 finishers secure full AJGA status, and the top 20 automatically qualify for the 2027 Junior PGA Championships at NCR Country Club in Ohio.

Live Streaming Debuts for the Final Rounds

For the first time in tournament history, fans can watch the closing stages unfold live. The PGA of America will stream the final two rounds on its official YouTube channel, broadcast directly from the PGA of America Studios.

Round 3 (Thursday, July 30): Broadcast starts at 3:00 p.m. CDT
Final Round (Friday, July 31): Broadcast starts at 11:00 a.m. CDT

The coverage will feature host Bryan Fenley alongside analyst Ewan Porter and on-course reporter Lauren Withrow, capturing all the action through the final putt and trophy presentation.

Storylines and Key Players to Watch

Following in the footsteps of 2025 champions Asterisk Talley (who won the girls’ division at 12-under) and Lunden Esterline (who took the boys’ title at 19-under), this year’s field is packed with national elite prospects.

Girls Division Highlights

Five of the top 20 players in the Rolex AJGA Rankings head the girls’ division:

Zoe Cusack (No. 6 JGH): The Potomac, Maryland native and University of Virginia commit comes in with high-level experience, having played in the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera and finished runner-up at last year’s Junior PGA Championship.
Vidhi Lakhawala: Bound for Wake Forest, Lakhawala earned a victory at the 2026 Nelly Invitational and previously competed on the LPGA Tour at the Kroger Queen City Championship.
Iris Lee (No. 37 JGH): The Orlando resident arrives with momentum after winning the 99th Women’s Western Junior Championship in June.

Boys Division Highlights

Four of the AJGA’s top 20 boys will battle for the title, alongside one of the sport’s most recognizable names:

Jaden Soong (No. 63 JGH): The Burbank, California contender has accumulated top finishes this season, including a T3 at the RLX Ralph Lauren Junior Classic on Bethpage Black.
Rory Asselta (No. 2 JGH): Fresh off a victory at the RLX Ralph Lauren Junior Classic at Bethpage Black, the New Jersey native looks to continue his strong summer.
Grant DeLorenzo (No. 61 JGH): The TCU commit recently picked up a trophy at the Pete & Alice Dye Junior Invitational.
Charlie Woods (No. 203 JGH): Son of 15-time major winner Tiger Woods (the 1990 Junior PGA runner-up), Charlie returns to the tournament after earning a T9 finish in the 2025 edition.

Local Pride on Home Turf

Adding extra excitement for local spectators, 27 players representing the host Northern Texas PGA Section are in the field.

The local contingent includes 13 girls—Gia Ahlowalia, Delaney Anderson, Serina Armendariz, Riya Bapna, Elizabeth Bellendir, Alivia Bravo, Kenzi Cho, Tiara Dhir, Eileen Lee, Lois Lee, Megan Lee, Emma Nguyen, and Jianne No—and 14 boys—Rishi Bapna, Knox Barnard, Wyatt Brindza, Miles Cooper, Wilson Kidwell, Henry Kim, Ryan Lee, Jack Lyssy, Rafe O’Rear, Lincoln Rubis, Zachary Rubis, Andrew Scott, Brayden Verret, and Tripp Waller.

With tour exemptions, national ranking points, and international roster spots on the line, the stage is set at PGA Frisco for four days of elite junior golf.
