This week on the Hub Program Spotlight we would like to feature Western Kentucky University Women’s Golf!

The WKU Hilltoppers, who compete in Conference USA, won the USA Intercollegiate tournament by 9 shots after a 3-day total of -8, 858! This was their first tournament of their fall season, which is proceeding after Conference USA allowed individual institutions to decide on the status of their fall sports.

According to Golfweek, this was WKU Women’s Golf Head Coach Adam Gary’s 8th win, making him the program’s winningest coach! The team’s 858 3-day total was their program’s second-best ever 54-hole score.

WKU had three players place a top-10 finish in the event at Magnolia Grove Crossings GC, including freshman Rylea Marcum, who came in second place after shooting -5 with rounds of 67-74-70. Redshirt senior Teri Doss finished tied for third with a -3 score after shooting 73-71-69.

Those competing in the tournament had to pass a COVID-19 test 3 days before the first round, and additional safety procedures were adhered to for the event. Head Coach Adam Gary emphasized how grateful their team is to be back competing,  given that many collegiate golf programs will not be allowed to compete this fall.
