As the sun bathes the Mark Bostick Golf Course in radiant hues, Florida’s golf teams engage in rigorous training, fine-tuning their strokes and honing their skills. Under the watchful eyes of coaches JC Deacon and Emily Glaser, golfers Jack Turner and Paula Francisco embody the teams’ collective ambition, working tirelessly towards their common goal: success in the NCAA tournament.

The men’s and women’s golf teams have had a stellar season so far, with both teams registering five tournament victories each. This run of success has catapulted them into the top-3 in the national rankings, a feat that has earned them both the coveted No. 1 seeds in the NCAA tournament, a first since 2017.

The Florida women’s team, ranked No. 3, is set to enter the Tallahassee Regional on Monday. The men, sitting at No. 2 in the rankings, will kick off their NCAA action next week in Columbus, Ohio. A top-five finish in each of six regionals will seal their spots in the NCAA Championships later this month.

‘It’s amazing,’ says Francisco, reflecting on the teams’ progress. ‘Both teams are driven and determined to succeed. You can see it in the work we put in. There’s no idle chat or hanging around. Everyone is here at the course, working towards something. It’s pretty impressive.’

The Florida teams’ remarkable rankings are the result of a collaborative and competitive spirit. However, both the teams and their coaches understand that titles are the ultimate measure of success. Coach Deacon and Coach Glaser’s squads seem primed for a deep postseason run after coming agonizingly close to SEC championships.

Paula Francisco, in particular, has been a standout player, becoming Florida’s first individual winner since Maria Torres in 2016. Along with teammate Jack Turner, Francisco represents the grit, talent, and ambition that have propelled Florida’s golf teams to their current heights.

As the NCAA postseason approaches, Florida’s golf teams are embracing the challenge, fueled by the shared goal of not just participating, but triumphing. Their journey thus far is a testament to their determination, talent, and hard work. Whether they will emerge victorious and bring home the coveted titles will be a tale to watch in the coming weeks. One thing is certain, though: Florida’s golf teams are not just thriving, but striving for ultimate success.Florida’s men’s and women’s golf teams are on a roll with top-3 national rankings, positioning themselves as strong contenders for the NCAA tournament.
