The world of junior golf is abuzz with the announcement of the 2026 Junior Presidents Cup Team Standings. This significant development puts top junior golfers a step closer to competing at the prestigious Medinah Country Club, furthering their journey in the globally renowned sport.
The Presidents Cup and the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) unveiled these initial rankings six months ahead of the competition, building anticipation and excitement among the golfing community. The event is set to take place on September 20 and 21, 2026, at Medinah’s Course No. 1 and Course No. 2, leading up to the main Presidents Cup event at Course No. 3.
The Junior Presidents Cup is a high-profile, biennial event, providing a platform for 24 of the world’s leading junior boys, 19 years old and younger. The tournament showcases 12 players from the United States and 12 from around the world, excluding Europe, in a two-day team match-play competition. This event aims to highlight the global reach of junior golf and offers a unique opportunity for the world’s best non-European juniors to compete in an international team match-play competition.
The selection process for the team members is meticulous and based on merit. The U.S. Team will comprise the top 10 qualified players according to the Rolex AJGA Rankings as of August 6, 2026, along with the 11th player chosen by U.S. Team Captain Matt Kuchar. The final spot will be awarded to the leading player in the Rolex AJGA Rankings as of September 10, 2026, who is not otherwise qualified. In case of a tie, the player with the highest rank on the World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR®) list at that time will be selected.
The International Team will include the top 10 players from the WAGR® list as of June 4, 2026, along with the 11th player chosen by International Team Captain CT Pan. The last spot will be given to the leading player from the WAGR® list as of July 30, 2026. In the event of a tie, the highest-ranked individual from the most recent WAGR® revision will be selected.
The current team standings highlight the global representation in the tournament, with seven countries including China, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Colombia, Thailand, and Hong Kong making up the International Team.
The 2026 Junior Presidents Cup is not just another tournament on the junior golf calendar. It stands as a testament to the global reach of golf, the rising talent in the sport, and the promising future these young players hold.
