European Quest Begins: The Road to the 2026 Junior Solheim Cup

The qualification race for the 2026 PING Junior Solheim Cup is now live. Players began their journey today at the Portuguese International Ladies’ Amateur Championship. This opening event at Penina Golf Resort serves as the first major test for Europe’s top young golfers.

The Road to the Netherlands

Twelve elite female golfers will represent Team Europe in the Netherlands next year. Eligible players must be between the ages of 12 and 18. The tournament takes place at Bernardus Golf from September 7–8, 2026. Historically, this event provides a vital platform for future professional stars. For the first time, the juniors will compete on the same course as the professional Solheim Cup teams.

Leadership and Selection

Captain Anne van Dam leads the European side this year. Vice-captain Bronte Law joins her to provide elite leadership. Both women previously competed together in the junior and professional Solheim Cups. Their shared experience will help guide the young roster throughout the intensive season.

The Qualification Path

The qualification path includes ten prestigious European events. The season officially ends in August at the R&A Girls’ Amateur Championship. The top six players in the rankings earn automatic spots. Captain van Dam will then select six additional players via captain’s picks to complete the roster.

Defending the Field

Louise Landgraf returns to Portugal this week to defend her title. The 17-year-old previously represented Europe in the 2024 cup in Washington, D.C.. She and teammate Alice Kong are top prospects for the 2026 squad. Both players hope to secure early ranking points in this high-stakes opening event.

The Value of International Play

This competition does more than just showcase talent. It gives junior golfers international match-play experience. Players learn from professionals and gain inspiration for their future careers. The PING Junior Solheim Cup has a long history of developing world-class athletes. Former participants include stars like Nelly Korda and Lexi Thompson. Competing at Bernardus Golf will be a career highlight for every selected player.
