This week, the ANNIKA Foundation announced their partnership with both Columbia and Augusta University to co-host a new women’s college golf tournament for mid-major programs. The More Than Golf Invitational intends to provide a prodigious golf experience for golfers looking to advance their career. The individual medalist from the tournament will be rewarded with 3 complimentary starts on the ANNIKA Women’s All-Pro Tour through the summer.
The More Than Golf Invitational is set to take place from March 27-30 in 2025 at Old Barnwell Golf Course is Aiken, South Carolina. Old Barnwell, which opened in 2023, is a private golf club with a focus on creating programs to empower and celebrate those who are underrepresented in golf. With the ANNIKA Foundation and Old Barnwell’s values aligning, the club is the perfect site for the ANNIKA Development Program, which also launched in 2023. Through the program, four ambassadors each year are provided with the opportunity to continue their pursuit of a career in professional golf.
The More Than Golf Invitational will host 12 teams, including those from Columbia and Augusta. Ten conference champions will be selected annually from mid-major conferences and will receive an invite to to participate in the invitational. The following year, 10 more conferences will be selected to play. The following conferences’ 2024 team champions will receive invites to participate in the 2025 More Than Golf Invitational: ASUN Conference, Big East Conference, Big Sky Conference, Conference USA, Horizon League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Mountain West Conference, Patriot League, Southern Conference, The Summit League.
“The More Than Golf Invitational speaks to the heart of our mission — to develop, empower and advance young women through golf and in life — and we are very excited to kick things off next year at Old Barnwell,” said Annika (via Columbia University Women’s Golf). “We’re grateful to our partners at Old Barnwell and our host universities, Augusta and Columbia, for helping us make this dream a reality. This tournament will give the student-athletes a chance to test themselves at a premier golf venue, while providing memorable experiences, life, and career advice.”
The More Than Golf Tournament’s programs provide relationship building opportunities through both a college-am before the tournament and an executive women’s dinner reception where athletes can meet with other successful women from various industries. The tournament’s hope is to motivate and give career and life advice to student-athletes. This will be an exciting opportunity for co-hosts Columbia and Augusta University as they can further inspire their athletes on and off the course.
