Junior golf is a journey marked by determination, development, and dreams of collegiate success. At Junior Golf Hub (JGH), we believe in creating a ranking system that reflects this journey. Our newly enhanced methodology aims to provide a clearer, fairer picture of each player’s progress while remaining inclusive and community-driven.
Listening to the Community
Feedback from coaches, academies, players, and families has shaped every update to our rankings. “The rankings process was never static,” explains JGH Founder, Roger Knick. “We’ve always relied on input from the community to ensure the system evolves with their needs and goals.”
This collaborative approach has led to changes that:
- Highlight younger players and their achievements.
- Include events often overlooked by other ranking systems.
- Incentivize players to seek growth through higher-stakes tournaments.
New Criteria: Earning Your Spot
To maintain the integrity of the rankings, players must meet new minimum requirements:
- Participation in 3 tournaments with 18-hole rounds.
- A total of 10 rounds within the one-year rolling cycle.
Balancing Inclusivity and Standards
While nine-hole events provide an entry point for many young golfers, rankings now prioritize those taking on greater challenges. This shift ensures that rankings reflect a player’s readiness for collegiate and competitive play, while continuing to track nine-hole players as they advance.
Looking Ahead
The Junior Golf Hub Rankings were designed with one goal in mind: to serve the junior golf community. By adopting a one-year rolling cycle and retaining historical event data, we balance recent performance with long-term development, offering a holistic view of a player’s journey.
“Our mission is as strong as ever,” says General Manager, Rick Dowling. “We’re here to amplify players’ stories, create opportunities, and keep junior golf as inclusive as possible. This is just the beginning.”
