Bridgestone and U.S. Kids Golf recently launched the BOOM IT JUNIOR, a golf ball built specifically for young players. This partnership marks a significant stride in the junior golf market. As youth participation surges, the industry is finally meeting the needs of these rising stars.
Meeting the Demand of a Growing Sport
Junior golf participation has grown by over 50% since 2019. Historically, manufacturers designed golf balls primarily for adult swing speeds and heavier clubs. This left a major gap for children just beginning their journey. However, the industry is now shifting its focus. Companies are finally recognizing the importance of specialized junior equipment.
Engineered for Speed and Launch
The BOOM IT JUNIOR focuses on maximizing distance for smaller players. Specifically, the ball features a two-piece construction and an ultra-low compression core. This design helps players with slower swing speeds capitalize on every strike. Furthermore, a high-launching dimple pattern ensures the ball gets airborne easily. These features make the game much less intimidating for newer players.
Professional Tech for Junior Players
Bridgestone included its MindSet alignment aid on this new model. Notably, Jason Day helped develop this technology to improve mental clarity at address. Bridgestone President Dan Murphy stated that their R&D team “knocked it out of the park.” Consequently, young golfers can now feel like professionals while they play.
Affordability and Market Impact
The BOOM IT JUNIOR is priced competitively at $22.99 per dozen. Previously, Vice Golf was one of the few brands offering a dedicated 3-piece junior ball. Now, Bridgestone’s entry provides a high-performance, accessible alternative. Ultimately, this release marks a major milestone for the future of junior golf equipment.
