Every so often a letter lands in the inbox that makes you stop and say, finally. This week that letter came from Joshua “JP” Press, CEO of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.
Since taking over the HJGT in April, JP and his team have spent the year looking hard at what the Tour does well and where it can be better. What they’ve announced is a meaningful step forward for thousands of junior golfers who tee it up on the Hurricane Tour every year, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it.
AJGA PBE Stars, guaranteed
The HJGT has strengthened its relationship with the AJGA and secured guaranteed Performance Based Entry (PBE) Stars at multiple events on its Fall/Winter 2026 schedule. For players working toward AJGA fields, that turns a Hurricane event into a real, measurable step on the path to the next level of competition.
The biggest opportunities come at the Tournament of Champions (Dec. 5–6), where the Boys 16–18 and Girls 14–18 champions each earn 8 stars, with stars extending deep into the top finishers. The National Championship that same weekend awards stars across multiple boys and girls divisions, including Girls U13 and Boys 12–13.
On the Opens schedule, standouts include the Orlando Fall Open at Eagle Creek (Oct. 24–25), where boys and girls 14–18 champions earn 4 stars and the top 10% earn 1, and the Eagle Creek Holiday Open (Dec. 26–27), where the girls champion earns 2 and the top three earn 1. Stars are also available at the Pittsburgh Fall Open, Atlanta Open at Canongate 1, Phoenix Open, Reunion Open, and PGA National Open.
Events offering stars will be clearly marked on HJGT’s schedule and tournament pages.
Results you can count on
This is the part that matters most to us at the Hub. Starting now, every HJGT result will be reported accurately and promptly to the national ranking organizations, including on Junior Golf Hub.
If you’ve ever played well and wondered why it didn’t show up where it should, you know why this matters. Rankings are only as good as the data behind them, and for players building their profile and their college golf journey, every result needs to count. HJGT committing to that standard means better visibility for its players on JGH Rankings and everywhere else coaches are looking.
All Hurricane events will also be run to AJGA standards, which keeps them eligible for PBE consideration and gives the Tour a path to add stars at more events as fields grow.
More ahead
JP was clear that this is a start, not a finish line. The HJGT is planning a full rebrand in the fourth quarter and is working toward a more inclusive platform by 2027, one where players from all backgrounds can compete at a high level, develop, and enjoy the game in a well-run, welcoming environment.
As a longtime partner of the Hurricane Tour, we’re proud to stand alongside them in this. Junior golfers and their families deserve tours that take their time, money, and results seriously, and the HJGT is showing exactly what that looks like.
Go onya, HJGT.
