Blades Brown, a 17-year-old golf prodigy from Nashville, Tennessee, has announced his decision to turn professional, opting to skip both his remaining high school tenure and collegiate golf. Currently ranked #1 in the Junior Golf Hub (JGH) Rankings, Brown has gained recognition for his advanced player metrics, showcasing elite consistency, scoring ability, and performance under pressure. He will make his professional debut at The American Express tournament in La Quinta, California, scheduled for January 16-19, 2025.
Brown’s amateur career has been distinguished by significant achievements. In 2024, he was honored as the American Junior Golf Association’s Rolex Junior Player of the Year, joining the ranks of past recipients like Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, and Scottie Scheffler. His consistent performance, including top-five finishes in four out of five national junior events, underscores his readiness for the professional stage.
Notably, Brown made his PGA Tour debut at the Myrtle Beach Classic in May 2024. At 16, he showcased his talent by making the cut and finishing tied for 26th, an impressive feat for someone of his age.
In his announcement, Brown expressed gratitude for his amateur experiences but emphasized his eagerness to embark on his professional journey. He stated, “I am ready to begin the next chapter of my golf career and will be competing as a professional in 2025.”
By foregoing college and turning professional at such a young age, Brown follows in the footsteps of other golfers who have taken similar paths, such as Akshay Bhatia. His decision reflects a strategic move to accelerate his career, leveraging his current momentum and the support of his management team.
As Brown transitions to the professional arena, the golfing community will keenly observe his development and impact on the PGA Tour. His early achievements and dedication suggest a promising future ahead.
