In 2025, Auburn set a staggering SEC Championship record by shooting 38-under par during stroke play. This year, the Tigers look ready to eclipse that mark. After two days at Sea Island Golf Club, the team sits at 27-under par. Consequently, they hold a five-stroke lead over the field heading into Friday’s final round of stroke play. Surpassing the previous record would further solidify Auburn’s status as a national powerhouse.
Koivun Leads the Charge
The Tigers’ momentum stems from elite individual performances. Junior Jackson Koivun, the two-time defending SEC individual champion, currently leads the player leaderboard. He carded back-to-back rounds of 64 to sit at 12-under. Furthermore, teammates Cayden Pope and Josiah Gilbert provided crucial support by both shooting 65 on Thursday. This depth allows the team to push boundaries and maintain a commanding lead.
